Google is the most popular search engine in the world. However, did you know that there are special characters and words that you can include in your search to get even better results? Try following the tricks the next time you search on Google to get more accurate results.
01. Use quotes (“”) to find the exact word or phrase
When you enter search terms in quotation marks, Google only displays pages with the exact phrase you enter in quotation marks. For example, if you are looking “the ancient city of Polonnaruwa“, Google search results include only pages with the phrase the ancient city of Polonnaruwa.
Also, if you are a beginner, you can use this method to check your works by searching for parts of your suggestions in Google. When a Google search yields some results, you get some idea of your writing.
02. Search for wildcards or unknown words (use * in quotes)
You can use asterisks
in quotation marks show variable or unknown words. Google will find results pages that have a few words in the tempo of the stars.
This is useful if you are trying to find certain phrases but do not remember certain words in it. You can replace words you don’t remember with asterisks, and Google will find the missing words.

03. Use the minus sign (-) to exclude results that contain a specific keyword

04. Search a specific siteIf you want to search for something on a particular site, put “site:
“in front of a site or domain, for example, you can search;

05. Limit the time period
With Google Search, you can specify the expected time period for search results. After starting the search, click “tools” (below the search bar), and a new menu will appear below. Select / specify the appropriate time period from the “Anytime” drop-down menu.

09. Conversion of units and currencies
You can use Google search to list units and list currencies. For example; a $ 15 search term in LKR will convert $ 15 into Sri Lankan rupees. To convert 15 feet to meters, use 15 feet to meters.
10. Search by title
If you put “intitle:” before a search query, Google displays pages with a title that includes the word immediately after “intitle:”.
When you use “allintitle:”, Google displays pages with all the words placed after it.
